Empty beds at the new OUH to be transported by robots

When the new OUH opens, the hospital's service assistants will have to walk more than 100 km every day to transport empty patient beds to and from bed washing - that is a lot of steps and a lot of time spent on a physically demanding and monotonous task without patient contact.

That is why CCR, the Logistics Department at OUH and Essential Robotics are collaborating to develop a robot for automated transport of beds. The aim is to free up hands for the benefit of both patients and staff.

The users' input is incredibly important in such a development process, so the other day we had a visit from Essential Robotics to present and demonstrate a prototype of the robot. Watch a short video of the robot here.
