CCR's inauguration
On Thursday 10 June 2021, we were finally able to officially inaugurate the Center for Clinical Robotics with a small event at the University of Southern Denmark (SDU) and virtually for the many interested parties, which the covid-19 restrictions unfortunately did not allow to attend physically.
Henrik Bindslev, Dean of the Faculty of Technology at SDU together with Stephanie Lose, Regional Council Chairman in Region Southern Denmark and Chairman of Danish Regions and Bjarne Dahler-Eriksen, Chief Medical Officer at Odense University Hospital (OUH), welcomed everyone to the launch of CCR.
All three emphasised the importance of new technology in the future healthcare system for both optimising workflows and relieving the workload of the healthcare staff.
The management of CCR consisting of Programme Manager Søren Udby, Research Manager Thiusius Rajeeth Savarimuthu and Technical Manager Esben Hansen gave examples of robotic technology and solutions that OUH and SDU have previously developed together. All three of them emphasised that the centre's main task will be to make the technology work in reality, so that the robots make a positive difference for patients and staff at the hospital.
After the great speeches, the ribbon was cut – of course by a robot – and the guests who were physically present were given a tour of SDU's robot lab.
